Top Financial Podcasts for Gaining Financial Freedom

July 22, 2014 by arizona

I will be the first to admit it. I am absolutely addicted to podcasts. And why not?  They are a cost-free information and entertainment source that can make the subway ride home a whole lot more enjoyable. Podcasts have the ability to impart knowledge, induce giggles and invoke strong emotions. Quite simply, they can be powerful stuff.

When it comes to money, it can be a little difficult to sort through some of the categories to land on a good podcast, but there are some real gems out there. I’ve stumbled onto some that have helped me learn how to save, become debt-free and gain some rock solid control over my current and future financial picture. I’ll share my list of the top financial podcasts here.

Top Financial Podcasts

Marketplace Money

This one, if you take the time to listen, will give you the adult portion of the money and finance news. No watered down versions of what’s going on here. It’s a great stop for giving you solid information on topics like:

  • Investing tactics
  • Money market trends
  • Financial News Topics
  • Timely Financial Information and Tips

YNAB (You Need a Budget)

Oh yes, we all need a budget, don’t we. But actually making and sticking to one can be difficult for some. The sooner you take control of this area of your finances, the happier you will be. The attributes that put this one on my list of top financial podcasts:

  • There is an app available under the same name that provides tracking of income and spending.
  • Podcast topics include budget perspectives from financial experts, how to organize your budget and practical advice on how to carry it out and sustain it.

Stuff Mom Never Told You

Don’t be fooled by the title, this is a podcast completely absent of any form of gender bias, although it does lean toward the feminine perspective. The hosts are excellent and unashamed in tackling some really controversial topics. While a broad range of subjects are addressed, there are some geared specifically toward finances and money, making this a ringer for the list of top financial podcasts.

Planet Money

If you’re interested in exploring the implications of your own personal relationship with your money, this one is definitely for you. By broadening the scope of the discussions, community and economic repercussions of our financial decisions are addressed. Be sure the talks will also focus on the personal financial issues as well. The wide variety of topics covered and the inspiring perspectives on our interactions with money makes this one a favorite for the top financial podcasts.

Stacking Benjamins: Earn, Save and Build with a Plan

Just the catchy name alone gains this one a place among the top financial podcasts. If you’re not interested in stacking your Benjamins, then you clearly don’t get how important it is to save money. When you are looking for some down-to-earth and straightforward conversations about money, this podcast is the one for you. Fill of some really wise insight and incredible financial wisdom, the host guides each broadcast into personally relevant financial issues. Providing a lot of entertainment along with a fantastic group of speakers makes this a great view into the world of personal money matters.

Freakonomics

A spin-off of the hugely popular and successful book series by the same title, this podcast delves into money and our daily interactions within the social marketplace. The national and world economies are covered with correlations to personal financial issues. This solid offering on the list of top financial podcasts is perfectly suited to the casual listener or any person who would like to be entertained while being prodded into a new way of thinking about money and economics.

Listen-Money Matters

Okay, I have to admit that this one is my personal favorite of the top financial podcasts. The hosts are two men who provide a refreshing balance of casual, humorous discussion with some really valuable information. The tone is direct and best of all, real. A tagline of “Manage Your Money like a Badass” should give you a heads up on what to expect. They’re not afraid to take on the tough subjects like how to save and paying off debt quickly, giving you real and practical methods to do it. A real must podcast for anyone who really wants to get some order in their finances and to start building some solid wealth.

We live in a world that’s on the move. Podcasts are a great way to pass time or entertain ourselves. Most of us are already comfortable using them in or everyday lives for a variety of purposes and reasons, even if it’s to provide a diversion during long commute home, as in my case. But with this list of top financial podcasts, you can take advantage of the free and practical information at your fingertips to take control of your financial future.
